And Now This…

This week someone I know from Instagram adopted a pair of my little resin critters. Here they are in their new digs across the country:

I’m going to share a little secret: I get a little emotional about sending these into the world.

It’s pretty gratifying to see that people like them and want to bring them home. But, as is especially the case with this first edition of Mooncats and Colorbunnies, I spend a lot of time with each one of them in the form of sanding and finishing and painting in details. I get attached to them, in that Velveteen-Rabbit- “this toy is real now” sort of way. And I pack them up, and wish them luck, and hope they don’t miss their brothers and sisters too much (they never write, so I’m assuming they’re just fine). I’m always just a little bit relieved when they get adopted in pairs, at least.

Yes, I am a card-carrying adult (literally; I’m old enough that my drivers license doesn’t have a stripe that calls out what year I will turn 25 because I’ve had it renewed since). Yes I do feel a little self-conscious about it, but I will bet money that some of you know exactly what I’m talking about. The number of blogs I follow that make little tableaus and take pictures of their toys as an excuse to play with them tells me I’m not wrong.
